Ryan Julius makes SA men's squad!

01 Oct

Ryan Julius is only u21 and is one of the countries rising stars. After making the WP u21 A side earlier this year, he went on to win GOLD with the team at the interprovincial tournament in April. He was also awarded the midfielder of the tournament award.

Having been selected for the SA u21 team (prospective Junior World Cup team), Ryan went to the men's interprovincial tournament in August. The SA u21 team competed and caused some upsets turning a few selectors heads. Ryan's performances were rewarded with a selection into the greater SA men's squad and an invitation to the selection camp for the Greenfields African Cup Championship starting 23 October at Randburg. This tournament is for major world ranking points and for a spot in the Rio 2016 Olympics as per IOC / FIH rules. (Let's hope SASCOC sends the boys!)

Ryan is currently on SA men's selection camp and we hope he makes the final team! But either way we will be proud of this lad who is very young and has a bright future ahead of him. He backs up his play with tons of hard work off the field and has taken every opportunity to further his game.

Ryan is one of our young SportWays coaches and we can't wait to get him involved with upcoming clinics like the Greenfields Princess Dutch Clinic in January 2016 so he can share with the players what he has learnt being in the national set up. He will also be putting on some epic demo's! This boy has some insane skills! Can't wait!
