REGISTRATIONS

 

1) What has changed from last year?

Nothing - please register as you did as per last year using your existing login (based on your email address). 

 

How to register?

Step1) Go to www.sportways.co.za and click on the “Princess Dutch Clinic” tab.

Step 2) Click “Clinic overview” and click on the individual clinic you wish to register for (do not click the sign up button yet).

Step 3) Read further info about the clinic and make sure you open the discounts policy page in a new tab to get your discount voucher.

Step 4) Then click SIGN UP button and each parent / guardian creates a secure account using your email address and password. You will be asked to verify your email address as lots of people make spelling mistakes in their own email address. The email should come through instantly – if not, please email us to do it manually.

Step 5) Register each player (son / daughter) under *single participant one-by-one.

Step 6) Follow the easy sign up process and make payment. You will receive automatic email confirming your registration.

 

If you would like to send a group of 10 + or 20 + players to take advantage of group discounts please read FAQ # 9 below. 

 

2) Where do I register for the clinic?

Parents / Guardians can only register players ONLINE (no manual reg) for the clinic via www.sportways.co.za 

NO MANUAL REGISTRATIONS (scanned copies, faxes etc) will be accepted under any circumstances. We do not have the man power to manually register participants across 24 different clinics.

Please note, each parent / guardian creates their own account connected to their email address under which players can be added one at a time and registered for any coaching program.

If you want to register a group (10 or more players) to receive a discount - then please contact us (read FAQ #9 below). 

 

3) I am having problems registering via www.sportways.co.za

If you are unable to register via the website, we can in extreme circumstances send you an electronic version of the registration form over email to complete and return. Please email info@sportways.co.za however we will first attempt to fix your online registration issue. 

 

4) How do I know my registration and payment has gone through?

Parents/Guardians should get an automated response post the booking with a confimation of registration and an invoice / payment instructions. Please allow a few minutes for this email to come through and do not re-register again.

Please make payment taking special note of the BANKING DETAILS and UNIQUE PAYMENT REFERENCE. The payment reference is a unique 4 digit number linked to your email address and does not change. Ignoring the payment reference causes us an administration nightmare and payments under incorrect references will NOT be recognised.

Please forward proof of payment via email only (no fax or other) to payments@sportways.co.za and not to info@sportways.co.za. Please allow 5 to 7 working days to ensure the payment has been processed correctly. Only after this period will we respond to payment queries via info@sportways.co.za only. Please do not email us before this time. Please do not send queries to payments@sportways.co.za as this mailbox is unattended and used as a last resort to finalise any payment queries. 

 

5) How do I secure my spot in the clinic?

To secure a spot in the clinic players must REGISTER and PAY! Just because a player has registered DOES NOT mean the place is secured. Only once payment has been received (provided there is still space available) will your spot in the clinic be secured. Clinics may be oversold / over-registered and they are run on a first come first serve basis in terms of PAYMENT post registration. We will not “hold” spots for anyone under any circumstances. Players who register and do not pay will not be accepted at future clinics.  

 

6) How do I pay for the clinic?

There are three payment options:

1. EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) directly into SportWays SA (Pty) Ltd’s bank account using correct payment reference

2. Cash deposit directly into SportWays SA (Pty) Ltd’s bank account using correct payment reference

3. Online credit card payment through VCS (www.vcs.co.za)

Please make one payment for the clinic in full. We do not accept multiple payments or part payments.

You may make one payment for more than one player as long as all those players are registered under the same parent / guardian and please ensure you use the same correct customer payment reference.

No cash is accepted on the day what-so-ever. All payments must be pre-payments.

Payment details are ONLY made available on successful registration. No payments will be accepted prior to a valid registration being received. 

 

7) How do I confirm that you’ve received my payment?

Please forward proof of payment via email only (no fax or other) to payments@sportways.co.za. You will not get a response to this email. Please allow 5 to 7 working days to ensure the payment has been processed correctly (is reflecting in our bank account). You will get a confirmation email once payment recognised. Only after this period will we respond to payment queries via info@sportways.co.za only and via no other email address. 

 

8) How many spots are available in the clinic?

The 4day clinics have 150 spots each (max capacity 180 with another 30 spots added later if needed) and the 2days clinics have 80 spots each (that is max capacity). The website shows you how many spots are still available once the number of spots gets very low. 

The clinic has a large number of coaches at each clinic ensuring that every player gets individual attention hence the HIGH QUALITY of the coaching clinic. We work on a basis of 1 coach to 8 players and this excludes the additonal Technical Directors who roam between groups. 

 

9) What is your discount structure?

 

Please view our Discount Policy. Discounts do not apply to the Witbank, Namibia or Zimbabwe clinics as these are managed by third parties with their own set of costs. 

 

DISCOUNT STRUCTURE (T's &C's apply):

1. EARLY REGISTRATION DISCOUNT - register and pay in FULL before the 30 November annually and we offer you a 20% discount. You may use the discount code (refer to discounts policy).

2. REPEAT PARTICIPATION DISCOUNT - players who registered and paid for the previous clinic (last year ONLY), are offered a 20% discount if they register and pay before 30 November annually. You may use the discount code (refer to discounts policy).

3. FAMILY DISCOUNT - 2 direct family members are offered a 20% discount, 3 or more direct family members are offered a 30% discount. Please use the following discount code upon registration and payment for 2 family members (use on both registrations) and for 3 or more family members (use on all registrations) - refer to discounts policy for the actual codes to us.

4. GROUP DISCOUNT (requires one group registration and one group payment) - More than 10 players are offered 20% discount. More than 20 players are offered 30% discount plus a 60% discount for the group leader. Please contact us in this regard first. Groups need to be processed manually – please find the group booking info here.

5. GOALIE DISCOUNT - a specialist goalie coach will not be at all the clinics however goalies will be included fully in all training drills so it will still be very beneficial for them to participate! A 50% discount is applicable for goalies where there is no specific specialist goalie coach. Please check which clinics this applies to here. All the 4day clinics have specialist goalie coaches and therefore this discount does not apply. Please use the  discount code upon registration and payment on the discount policy page. 

 

Discount Ts&C's

Only ONE discount applicable per player i.e. discounts cannot be added to one another. The largest single discount applies.

• If you apply a discount that is not valid or applicable to you, payment will not be recognised (no pay, no play).

• Discounts cannot be applied retrospectively if payment has been made. NO refunds for missed discounts whatsoever.

• Discounts do not apply to clinics administered by third parties (with their own costs). This means no discounts offered on the Witbank, Namibia and Zimbabwe clinics.

 

10) Are there any development spots available? What if I can’t afford it?

We have already made an effort to include some development players at most of the clinics and will do so especially if we have spare capacity. Please forward your request with full details, context for the request, region of clinic and number of players to info@sportways.co.za. Please also CC in the relevant clinic coordinator.

 

11) What happens if I withdraw from the clinic late?

Please refer to our Terms and Conditions which you have accepted on registration for more information. The terms and conditions that parents / guardians accept are clear.

Cancellation must be made in writing; the date of the receipted email will serve as the date of reference and be used as defined in paragraph 2 of this article.

In case of cancellation of the Agreement the following amounts will be charged per Participant:

-Up to 8 weeks before commencement 10% of the total Sum;

-From the 56th day (inclusive) until the 28th day before commencement 25% of the total Sum;

-From the 28th day (inclusive) until the 5th day before commencement 50% of the total Sum;

-From the 5th day (inclusive) until the day of commencement 75% of the total Sum;

-On the date of participation, or later, the whole Sum will be charged.

In case of cancellation, the Participant is empowered to find a replacement. In this case administrative costs of R0.00 will be charged at this time.

Any cancellation requests must be sent to along with all relevant info, region of clinic and name of player in question to info@sportways.co.za. Please also CC in the relevant clinic coordinator. 

 

12) Can I register late?

YES provided there are spots available at the particular clinic. We will accept late registrations right up until the day before the clinic although this is NOT ideal from an administrative perspective so don’t wait until the last minute and make life difficult for everyone. You will need to do the following:

1) REGISTER ONLINE at www.sportways.co.za.

2) MAKE PAYMENT. We have a strict NO PAY NO PLAY policy so payment would have to be made in full and proof submitted (if EFT or cash deposit) via email before we confirm late registrations. We do not accept cash on the day under any circumstances.

 

13) Can we only attend for a portion of the time and pay proportionately?

YES and NO. We give first priority to those who would like to attend the FULL version of the clinic. However if we have spare capacity then we will accept players for a portion of the clinic. This will only be communicated late in December once capacity is established. We may then negotiate a pro-rata payment for the time attended being either 25%, 50% or 75%. No further complicated calculations please.

If you are willing to attend only a portion of the clinic and pay the full amount for the clinic then you are welcome to register and pay and we will secure a spot for you immediately.

 

14) How do I update my registration information?

If you made a mistake during registration, please email us at info@sportways.co.za with the correct info. Please include the players name and clinic they are registered for so we can update quickly otherwise we will reply requesting this info. 

 

15) Why is the Witbank, Namibia and Zimbabwe clinic different?

The SportWays TOP HOCKEY Clinic has been outsourced to third parties in these regions in terms of administration. They are handling all arrangements (payments) for this clinic – we are only supplying the top SportWays Technical Director coaches and the high quality coaching program. You can contact the organisers directly. All registrations through the website will be forwarded to them. DO NOT PAY SportWays SA (Pty) Ltd for this clinic as your payment will NOT be recognised or passed onto these third parties. Please pay the third parties directly per their banking details on the website or as communicated to you by them. You can see their banking details here

 

COACHING QUERIES

 

16) My son / daughter is a strong player and I would like to include them in a higher age group?

The SportWays TOP HOCKEY Clinic is a SKILLS BASED clinic hence the emphasis is not as much on playing against other stronger players as it is on improving the skills of players individually. Players will be split according to numbers into a junior and senior groups. Further splits may be made according to gender as the pro SportWays Technical Director coaches see fit. The coaches are experienced professional hockey coaches and where necessary will be looking to rebalance groups moving weaker and stronger players around. We get a lot of requests for players to move up age groups and only in exceptional cases (where player is playing in a provincial team much higher than their age group or has made a national team) will these be taken into account upfront. We prefer to note the request (via clinic coordinator and comments section on registration) and assess all players on merit moving them up or down based on our own assessment. Often the Dutch style is to play completely mixed hockey with boys and girls together which is very foreign to South Africans who do not understand it. They are the professionals so give it a chance and you will see it does not decrease the quality of the coaching or the experience at all – in fact it enhances it.

 

17) My son / daughter does not fit the age group for the particular clinic – can they still attend?

 

We offer the following options / combinations of age groups and locations:

  • 4day SportWays TOP HOCKEY Clinic offered to 13 to 18 year old players in Cape Town, Durban, Joburg, Pretoria, Stellenbosch
  • 3day SportWays TOP HOCKEY Clinic offered to 10 to 18 yr old players in Pietermariztburg
  • 2day SportWays TOP HOCKEY Clinic offered to 6 to 13 yr old players in Cape Town, Durban, Joburg, Pretoria
  • 2day SportWays TOP HOCKEY Clinic offered to 10 to 18 yr old players in Port Elizabeth, East London, George, Knysna, Malmesbury, Polokwane, Limpopo, Potchefstroom, Bloemfontein, White River, Witbank, Namibia. 

 

Our success is based solely on providing the highest quality coaching throughout and extending the age range too wide puts us under severe pressure to maintain coaching quality. Players on the fringes of the age groups set may be accepted from time to time - please email us at info@sportways.co.za to make your request. 

Where a SportWays TOP HOCKEY Clinic is offered to players 10 to 18 years old, players younger than 10 years old are encouraged NOT to register. We reserve the right to exclude them on the basis of age on receipt of registration and even post payment. Players are encouraged to wait until they are older as this is an annual coaching clinic in January of every year. However if we have significant spare capacity at a particular clinic then we will be able to manage the players as there will be fewer of them. This will only be decided in early January / late December. If a player is 9years old (almost 10) then it shouldn’t be a major issue.

No players over 18 will be accepted unless clinic has significant spare capacity. Over 18's are encouraged to apply as staff (local coaches).

 

18) I need goalie coaching information?

The 4day clinics will have top local SA specialist goalie coaches, coaching the goalies specifically. Goalies will also be involved in training drills along with the rest of the outfield players. Goalies must pay the standard price of clinic as per normal as they will have specialised coaching.

The 2day clinics will NOT have a specialist goalie coach coaching the goalies due to space constraints. However they will be included in training drills along with the rest of the outfield players by the SportWays Technical Directors and top local SA coaches. Thus they are entitled to a 50% discount on the full cost of the clinic and it will still be very beneficial for them to attend. Please view our discount policy here for info on goalies.

19) The SportWays TOP HOCKEY Clinic is split across 2 venues? Which venue will I be at?

Most of the venues are hosting both a senior group and junior group of players at the SAME venue. In some clinics however players will be split across two venues into two groups most likely u13s to u14s in juniors group and u15s to u18s in seniors group. It’s not advisable to have juniors in the seniors group and seniors in the juniors group but where possible we can accommodate these requests if logistically it’s impossible for parents / guardians to get the players to two different locations.

Note the GK’s will have separate training and it will be advised which venue they will be based at. We will only split the groups in January so please wait until you receive an email in early January. We will not have any information for you prior to that and all registrations are complete.

 

GENERAL

 

20) I’m a local coach – can I be part of the clinic?

Absolutely YES! Local coaches who want to be part of the clinic are asked to apply online via the www.sportways.co.za website under the “STAFF” section. Coaches will not be confirmed immediately. At the end of November we will assess coach applications. Coaches will be informed in due course that they have been approved to attend the clinic.

Local coaches will not under any circumstances be paid. This is an opportunity for them to LEARN from the BEST SportWays Coaches. They will be invited to the special “coaching of the coaches” session / presentation the day before the clinic starts and be included in all coaches team building, braai’s, drinks etc. They will be expected to be present at the coaching clinic for the entire duration of the 2 or 4day clinic. Coaches will be provided with a branded coaching shirt and lunch and drinks will be provided daily. We have decided that we will not charge coaches for the experience / learning opportunity. An opportunity like this is exceptionally rare in SA hockey and previously coaches were charged R1600 each to attend the 4.5day clinic even as observers. However coaches are asked to invite ALL players they coach to attend the clinic and help spread the word to ensure the clinic is FULL. Coaches who don’t help promote the clinic will be at a disadvantage in the selection process.

We accept 20-25 local coaches for the 4day clinics and 10-15 coaches for the 2days clinics. If we have too many coaches apply will distinguish between coaches AND observers. We also reserve the right to exclude coaches on any basis without reason. In future these opportunities will be available ONLY to “SportWays” Coaches and those coaches from schools / clubs we partner with in the clinics.   • Every parent / guardian has a unique payment reference that stays the same each clinic that they register their son / daughter for. Use ONLY this reference as the system automatically allocates payment.
  • PLEASE DO NOT make payment until registered for the relevant Clinic. 
  • PLEASE DO NOT forward bank details to anyone. They will receive the bank details when they register FIRST.
  • PLEASE DO NOT make payment without the correct payment reference (unique customer ID) as requested on your invoice. 

 

23) What is the cost of the Princess Dutch Clinic Clinic?

  • 4 day clinics - Please note that the full amount of approx R2250 (Vat inclusive) must be paid BEFORE attendance. First come first serve basis which means registration AND payment.
  • 2 day clinics - Please note that the full amount of approx R1250 (Vat inclusive) must be paid BEFORE attendance. First come first serve basis which means registration AND payment.
